First City Photo is the Premier Studio in the Midwest

First City Photo and Frames is owned and operated by Debra Bates-Lamborn, who is one of the top professional photographers in the Midwest. Debra is but one of a few professionals in the country who is shooting with a medium format camera, a Mamiya 645, with a 33 megapixel sensor which is precision-matched with the world’s greatest optics to deliver exquisitely detailed images. These large sensors provide exceptional color accuracy and 16 bit/channel high dynamic range photographs in just a single capture. Other digital backs or small sensor DSLRs simply do not compare. So what does this mean? Great portraits for you!

There are many people running around these days with a camera hanging around their necks and have a “passion” for photography. I say the only thing they have a passion for is your wallet. Many of these people have discovered their passion for photography while taking photos of their own children. However, it takes more than love, passion, and some natural talent to be a professional photographer. My clients rely on me to provide high quality professional portraits at an affordable price.

No guesswork here, it’s all in the artist’s eye…..

I have been looking through the lens of a camera for more than 30 years now and it never ceases to amaze me when I look through the camera and see something that thrills me. I make this happen everytime I photograph a high school senior, a boy of five, a family of 23, and the simplicity of a family of three with their Georgia Bull Dog. I am very lucky that the profession I chose those many years ago at the University of Kansas, is one that I still find to be exciting and thrilling todayThousands and thousands of images later, I can still be thrilled by what I see.

This is Fantastic!

I was watching the Rachel Zoe project the other night, okay, I will admit to watching it. She was being photographed by a famous photographer who had her wearing vintage gowns for her pregnancy pictures! Loved it! Loved the fact that her husband was in some of the pictures, too. My opinion is that pregnancy portraits should tasteful portraits that can be hung on your walls, not tucked away in an underwear drawer. But what thrilled me as a professional was that he was shooting with the same camera as mine! Seriously, this man had the professional eye and equipment to set him apart from the nikon and cannon crews! And even better he was using the same software program as First City Photo.See you don’t have to go to L.A. for great photos, you can get them right here in Leavenworth, Kansas!
